We booked private tour with DWTS for a day trip to Duoro Valley. Rui picked us up at our hotel and we started the day at the beautiful Pechaca vineyards.   he then took us to a family run restaurant in the valley. The local food was delicious. After lunch we took a 1 hour boat ride on the river (with others) it was a stunning way to see the valley. We finished off the afternoon with a private wine tour and tasting over looking the valley at Quinta da Formigosa. . Once again stunningly beautiful. Alec our guide was adorable and we enjoyed the afternoon with her. The highlight we didnt expect was Rui is also a photographer and took wonderful candid and posed pictures of our family and shared them all with us at the end of the day. He then dropped us off back at our hotel. It was a full day and the highlight of our vacation. We enjoyed visiting with Rui. He is very kind with superior hospitality. Rui provided the perfect day trip to the Douro Valley. He planned every stop perfectly, every detail from the wines to the meals it was an absolutely perfect day. Plus he is a wealth of knowledge on all things Porto and gave us plenty of amazing recommendations to use for the rest of our trip. Our experience with Private Douro Valley Wine Tours was exceptional. Rui was a wonderful and knowledgeable host and tour guide. I had expressed in advance our desire to focus on wineries where porto was not the prime wine as My wife and I prefer DOC wines, and he took us to several wineries where the tours were led by knowledgeable and charming tour guides and the wines were wonderful as well. We also had a great lunch at the authentic and Delicious restaurant, and our boat ride down the Douro River was gorgeous. Pedro was terrific. He took us to two great wineries and drove very safely on roads with lots of twists and turns. The day we were there the valley was very hot but this was not Pedro’s fault! If you have problems with motion sickness ask to sit in front of the car as it with help with the twisty roads. We recommend Pedro to be your guide! Five stars for Rui and DWT Private tours. Starting with the organisation.. Rui was incredibly punctual and clear with both email and telephone communications prior to my booking with a clear idea on the itinerary for the day, all of which was booked for us so all we had to do was take in the views and the experience, which takes so much stress away from the day, especially as tourists who don’t know the region well. He picked us up at 9am sharp and drove us to the first winery where we got an insight into the wine making process as well as great views and of course some wine stating. The next stop was then a spot of lunch at a local restaurant followed by a tour of the valley by boat, with some great views. The last winery was a different by equally as good experience where we were taken around the vineyard on a private tour, which was again.. fantastic. Throughout these experience Rui was there to capture some great photographs for us. The last stop of the day (and one that I had secretly organised with Rui) was to a viewpoint overlooking the valley, where I had planned to propose to my partner of 4.5 years. Rui was in on the plan and when the moment came he was there to capture the moment to perfection. Overall he was absolutely brilliant in every way and we can’t thank him enough for his time and efforts for organising the day and especially capturing moments that we will treasure for life. Cannot recommend high enough. Rui is amazing. We had a full day tour to the Douro Valley. Rui picked us up at our hotel in Porto and planned the most magical day for us. He took us to a vineyard where we had a chance to look around and then a tour of the port making process and port tasting. He then took us for lunch and to a boat trip round the valley and to another vineyard for a tour and wine tasting overlooking the valley. The day was seamless. Organised to perfection and we could sit back, relax, take in the scenery and enjoy the tours with nothing to worry about at all and the joy of his company too. As a tour guide, he was amazing. And as a person his friendly and calm nature was lovely to spend the day with. Rui is also a fabulous and very talented photographer who captured the day and we have a whole album of special memories. I also later found out that Rui and my partner had secretly planned an addition to our already perfect day and he took us to the most breathtaking viewing point where my partner proposed and Rui took the most special photos for us. I couldn’t have asked for a better or more perfectly planned day and I am very grateful to Rui for creating it for us and capturing amazing photos. Amazing day with Rui. Can't recommend a tour with him enough. Looking forward to returning to Porto and doing it all over again.
